Sissinghurst is one of Britain's best-loved gardens, developed in the 1930's by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson around the surviving parts of an Elizabethan mansion. The garden is designed as small enclosed 'rooms' separated by tall hedges and pink brick walls, resulting in an intimate and romantic atmosphere.
