About The Tour
Escorted by your expert Paris tour guide, drive along the beautiful Route touristique du Champagne into the heart of Champagne country, one of France's most beautiful regions.
There you will discover the history and secrets of this exquisite drink; the process of double fermentation carried out in cool, underground galleries built by the Romans, where millions of bottles of Champagne lie in racks, waiting to reach maturity.
Enjoy a guided visit of Moet & Chandon; see the chalk caves where the wines are stored, the winepresses and the fermentation room. Afterwards there will be Champagne tasting - learn the expert's method to open, serve and drink Champagne. We then visit another cellar using different methods of preparation before travelling on to Hautvillers, the village where Dom Perignon invented Champagne. See the chapel and convent with its magnificent view of the Champagne Valley and the Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay vineyards. Visit Moet & Chandon or Taittinger.
Your day also includes a visit to the city of Reims with its famous cathedral - the traditional site of the coronation of French kings since 816 when the first Carolinian king was crowned. Since then 25 French kings have followed. In this splendid cathedral, marvel at the beautiful stained-glass windows by Chagall before your return to Paris.
At Moet & Chandon we can have a private room for Champagne tasting.
If you have the choice, we recommend avoiding this tour on a Sunday.
