About The Tour
Discover the secrets behind English winemaking on a beautiful country estate. Tucked away in the picturesque county of Berkshire is the Stanlake Park Wine Estate.
Follow in the footsteps of the English elite as you journey with your British Tours guide from London through the Thames Valley. West of the capital, this cluster of pretty riverside villages, along the River Thames, have served as a tranquil country retreat for aristocracy and royalty alike for centuries. Literature lovers will be charmed by the landscape brought to life in Jerome K. Jerome’s ‘Three men in a boat’ and Kenneth Grahame’s ‘Wind in the Willows’, while gastronauts will be delighted by world-class cuisine in historic locations!
Finally, you will be greeted at the Stanlake Park Wine Estate by a vineyard expert to lead you through the wine-making process. The tour usually lasts 2 hours and you have the opportunity to visit one of the vineyards, the entire cellar with the barrel rooms, the fizz room and the bottling line. Relax in the walled garden as you taste a selection of wines including sparkling, rose, white and red (you might even decide to take a bottle home with you)!
Fans of Midsomer Murders will recognise the Stanlake Estate as the Midsomer Vinae from the 2015 episode ‘A Vintage Murder’ and may wish to combine a visit to the vineyard with some of the countryside locations from our Midsomer Murders tour.
“I know what you're thinking, who goes to England for wine? Well we do, and we are glad we did!”
